We are an ecological inn because we like nature and looking after it.

Drain water generated by the hotel is degraded in a wetlands-system which is opened for guided visits. This system avoids pollution of the subsoil which is particularly delicate in the Yucatan Peninsula. We are an ecological inn because we generate our own electricity by means of solar panels. We are an ecological inn because we recycle organic waste to make fertilizer for our garden. We are also en ecological inn because our green areas carry only the local species and we have planted exclusively plants that are proper to the region. We are an ecological inn because we have preserved the marine dune in its original dimension and we have maintained its original vegetation.

We are an ecological inn because we accept the responsibility of preserving nature for our future generations.

Ceiba

The Maya call it "sacred tree of life"

This magnificent plant, which the forest can reach a height of 40 meters, is the axis mundi of the Mayan people. Maya can be found in every town in the main square. Formerly Ceiba were celebrated in the shadow of sacred ceremonies, and performed important social activities such as, for example, exchange of merchandise.

Its branches represent the seven heavens, its trunk, hollow inside, representing the world chiefly inhabited by man and his roots in the subsoil, which is the entrance to the underground world inhabited by the gods, which even today makes tribute through various ceremonies.

La Ceiba rappresnta prosperity and security that the Gods gave to their people. The quantity of leaves produced in spring indicates the degree of abundance of the harvest. In late spring, it rienpie of "balls" soft, full of seeds, the Mayans used to do their pillows, blankets or bags. This year for the first time at Dos Ceibas have sprouted many small Ceiba, which we gave away as a sign of good luck to the friends who attended the event "Day out of time."
